Investing in a video is an investment well spent if you know how to use it. Even if you have a final product in mind, consider the footage you generate on a shoot to be a library of content you are creating for more uses.
At fig media we have a client who had us out for three days to film for one specific location and video. From that footage we have been able to create 3 marketing videos, in addition to 2 outtake reels and 1 personal video for our client that lives on youtube. Now a year later, we are still using the footage in future projects.
Good content lives long. Spend your time getting good material, having fun and allow the outtakes and mistakes to be filmed.
Then once you have your content, follow these tips:
Post to your company website, blog, facebook, twitter, linked in, send e-blasts, use in presentations, power points, send dvds, host screenings. One video can go a long way.
Use your scrap. If there is a funny outtake post it up for friends, family and co-workers to look at. It will entertain and create buzz for your final video.
Create a library of media to choose from by planning your shoot well, use scripts and shot lists to maximize your time. Then you have a bank to choose from when making new media.
So have fun creating your content and let the creativity fly.
